I was honestly one of those people who never thought she would give up meat, or queso fresco. It seemed so out of this world for anyone to give milk and meat up. I thought exactly what everyone thinks, that vegans where crazy, that they must just eat salad, or are extremely skinny, fragile and so.
It wasn’t until about a year and a half ago, that I decided to look into it, I have always been lactose intolerant, any type of milk, and I feel horrible, gassy, like a balloon. So I began to read about my alternatives. I ran across the meat industry, and how the animals where treated in production, I cried. With disgust, I told myself oh no, I have to stay away from this.
Around this same time, I was taking nutrition classes at school, I ran across all the added benefits and the life expectancy of what a vegan diet can bring you. When done correctly, maintaining a balanced vegan diet, can come with a lifetime of rewards.
It is possible for a purely plant-based diet to provide the key nutrients for health:
-Zero animal fats which have been linked to a range of chronical diseases, like diabetes, arthritis, hypertension, heart diseases, and types of cancers
-Lowers cancer risk
-Helps with heart health
I find that I have a lot more energy, my skin has a golden glow, my nails, hair, are growing, and well the food I eat feels amazing, refreshing, healthy.
However, planning is needed to maintaining a plant-based diet as you need to maintain a nutritional balance. If not planned vegans could run into a series of nutrient shortages. Always maintaining your macro nutrient level. I will be talking more about what foods to eat, to ensure you are successful in your journey to a vegan diet. Sharing some delicious recipes, for you to try, so stay tune. If you are not looking into becoming fully vegan, as I don’t expect everyone to be, try it for a day, or two, see how your body feels when you remove the animal products.
